RE-IMAGINING ILLINOIS MARCH 29TH- NOTE TIME CHANGE

United Power for Action and Justice will meet with the new governor of Illinois to begin the process of renewing and re-imagining public life in our state. We will confront Illinois' political and budget crises directly and honestly.
We will present the following Five Pillars for Re-Imagining Illinois to him and ask for his response. At this Assembly, we look to begin a new kind of relationship between a sitting governor and grassroots citizens organizations that is based on mutual respect and accountability.

Five Pillars for Re-Imagining Illinois:

1. Rooting out the culture of corruption, nepotism and political dynasties.

2. Fiscal responsibility and adequate revenue.

3. Fair and progressive taxation.

4. Priorities for people — especially those who are hurting in the current economic crisis — over politics as usual.

5. New and diverse faces, especially those of young adults, in state and local government.

Delegations of leaders from our sister organizations, DuPage United, Lake County United, and Public Action for Change Today (PACT) will also attend. For more information, call your leader or organizer or go to www.united-power.org.
